About Us

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

2 Corinthians 3:17

Who We Are

Our main goal at Reading City Church is to be a place where people can meet Jesus and engage in authentic, life-giving community. We exist to worship the Lord together, serve our community wholeheartedly, and challenge one another to grow.

We offer a place to be authentic, to ask questions, and to learn what it means to be representations of Christ to our world. Click here for a more detailed explanation of our core beliefs.

Where We Came From

On October 10, 2010, RCC started  meeting at the IMAX theater in Reading, PA as a group of about 50 friends. That year, the city of Reading was recognized as having the highest poverty rate in the entire nation. Our desire was to be the Church as simplistically as possible; we wanted to be a genuine community that loved Jesus and sought to serve the city. A few years later, RCC united with the congregation of the historic St. James  Church in West Reading.

Where We're Headed

A lot has changed since our start in 2010, but the core of who we are and our long-term vision has not. More than ever, we want to be true to God's original calling for us: to be generous, humble, and servant-minded.

What This Means For You

We invite you to be a part of our church family! More than coming on a Sunday, sitting in a pew, and leaving unchanged, we want you to feel comfortable enough to be your real self, make new friends, and find a place to use your talents and passions. Let's seek after Jesus together!
